Brew Pot Boil Controller
Operation
Our new brew pot controller does not use any form of temperature feedback. None is needed because water boils at a constant temperature of 212F, minus a little depending on your elevation above sea level. Because no temperature feedback is needed we do not need to use a expensive PID temperature controller. Instead, we use a continuously adjustable controller (the adjustment knob) to give you full control of your brew pot element heat setting. Turning your brew pot controller knob clockwise turns your heat up just like turning the knob on a gas stove turns up the flame.
So, what would you use one of these for? It's designed to control a heating element you install into the side of your brew pot!

The controller includes a 6' power cord standard with longer lengths available, plug end and linear boil control & on/off switch all in one rotary switch. The controller is designed to work with up to a 5500 watt electric heating element. Also, this controller is designed for controlling the rate of boil only and does not use temperature feedback.
It is designed for up to a 5500 watt element to boil up to 12 - 15 gallons of wurt with a reasonable time to boil of about 30 minutes. You will need a 240V, 30 Amp circuit (dryer outlet) to run this controller. If desired you can also run a smaller wattage 240V element in your brew pot.
Check out the YouTube video of this brew controller in action! We bought 5 gallons of water from 65F to full boil in 22 minutes. It's easy to fine tune your heat to keep a full rolling boil while controlling foam at the same time.
Features:
Designed to control your rate of boil - no temperature feedback (none needed for boil) 6' Power cord with 3 prong (older style) or 4 prong (newer style) plug end standard, longer lengths available at a small added cost 3 wire twist-lock outlet with both sides of 240V and safety ground supplied to the outlet Water resistant all aluminum housing Full linear control Low cost compared to other solutions Controls up to a 240V, 5500 Watt electric heating element Includes four mounting tabs for mounting on your brew stand or can sit on your counter top Simple, easy to use design - just plug in and use.
How does this controller work?
The power knob doubles as a on/off switch. Turn all the way to the left then "click" to turn the element off. Turn the knob all the way to the right for full on, then when you reach boil turn the knob back until your boil is exactly where you want it to be. It's easy to set your power & rate of boil to control foaming & boil over and response time to adjustments is almost instant.
Need a boil controller for a still?
Although we don't personally operate a still a friend of mine pointed out that this would make a perfect still boil controller!
Note: A 3 prong power plug is only offered so that this controller can be used with a existing older 3 wire dryer outlets. To comply with today's NEC code any new wiring should be 4 wire and you should run a 4 wire circuit to your brew area. Regardless of the incoming power cord, the plug for the element is 3 wire twist-lock with a third ground wire for safety.
These will also be available wholesale through FOXX Equipment.
